more beach time, meat and quietness

1. We took Izzy to Shack Island today. It was strange walking on a huge oyster bed. There was another Great Blue Heron and lots of birds. Isabelle liked the cookies best.

2. T-bone steak, medium rare.

3. A quiet house. It's late almost midnight. Quiet.

music, four arms and seeds

1. We spent time in the office this morning I was on my laptop just geekin' and Russ was doing homework and saving the world with his CBC posts. He 'has a Simon and Garfunkel song stuck in his head. He plays it a few times and then puts on other tunes of theirs. I mention I like a song and he says "It's their best song because it is called Kathy's
Song'. He smiles that smile and then we listen to it and I cry at the beauty of it and because I'm touched by Russ' words.  He says he's going to cry too if I don't stop my tears.

2. Sometimes we hold back the words we really want to say. Today I said them. I said " Chris we are so proud of you." And I meant every word. He's an amazing man. We hugged and it felt good, we meant it and we both felt it.

3. The yard is almost done. Just have the raspberries to thin and some grass to dig out in one bed. Tomorrow I am planting the two small raised veggie beds. What should I plant?
I hear the drizzle of the rain
Like a memory it falls
Soft and warm continuing
Tapping on my roof and walls.

And from the shelter of my mind
Through the window of my eyes
I gaze beyond the rain-drenched streets
To England where my heart lies.

My mind's distracted and diffused
My thoughts are many miles away
They lie with you when you're asleep
And kiss you when you start your day.

And as a song I was writing is left undone
I don't know why I spend my time
Writing songs I can't believe
With words that tear and strain to rhyme.

And so you see I have come to doubt
All that I once held as true
I stand alone without beliefs
The only truth I know is you.

And as I watch the drops of rain
Weave their weary paths and die
I know that I am like the rain
There but for the grace of you go I.

high up, eating and bird

1. A special day with Russ and Isabelle. We went to the Neck Point Park and totally enjoyed the walk. She loves being up high in the backpack and Grandpa loves carrying her.

2. Pepperoni pizza. We haven't had pizza in a long long time but damn this was awesome.

3. Watching a Great Blue Heron stretch its neck long and tall.

done, closed eyes and he's taking care of things

1. Getting section one completed on the admin manual.

2. A nap in the big chair.

3. I'm a bit under the weather (ok, understatement but no one ever wants details). Luckily I have someone to look out for me and give me a hug or two.

what have we started, helping each other and my older son

1. It started out like any other project then before we knew it we were in the midst of more pine needles than we thought existed! I wanted to just mow the lawns but we ended up raking the gardens too and filled a trailer load!

2. He finished cleaning up for me. I offered to help seeing as it was the project I'd started and he said to me looking all serious, "You get your butt out there and finish the job!" Then he burst out laughing and said, "No way!" So, I made some tea and goodies for us to snack on instead.

3. Chris called me back and he was in good spirits. I like it when he teases me. He was lighthearted and it felt good to talk to him. I look forward to more conversations with him.

feeling better, new product and fruit

1. The wee one has an ear infection. She was up a lot in the night all stuffed up. Her mom rocked her in the rocking chair, then they both slept there for a while. This morning she was much happier. She still needed some extra luvins' which isn't hard to give her.

2. Jumping in the car for a quick trip to a home finishing shop to check out goodies. I found a great product to rejuvenate the floors. One drawback is no walking or furniture in the rooms for 24 hours. I might need to do this job when he's away working as I suspect it might be a bit too smelly for him.

3. Two words: dried mangoes.

chop chop, the prescription and soothing melodies

1. I've been thinking it's time to spend time looking after myself a bit more. I'm neglecting some bits and pieces. So this morning I got a hair cut. Is a hair cut considered pampering? Must be,  because that's as good as it gets at the moment.

2. A quote from my boss. She said, 'I've been through the middle phase in life. They're called the 'Merlot Medicaton' years. Comes with 20 extra pounds'

3. It's a sleep over tonight with Chris, Michie and Isabelle. I hear my son singing songs to her to help her go to sleep. I remember singing the same ones to him, like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Jesus Loves Me. All time favourite for putting Chris to sleep was Silent Night. I think it was subliminal thinking on my part.
