cleaned up gardens, rose and a call

1 The gardens need putting to bed for the winter. Nine overflowing wheelbarrows to the trailer and although I love how the gardens look when they 're full of flowers, this cleaned up garden is lovely too.
2 A rose is hiding under all the ivy. It now has some space and room to grow.
3 A call from a friend whom I haven't talked to in months. What a wonderful surprise to catch  up on her news and talk a little bit about where we used to work together, politics and her new cats!

Putting a garden to bed is as much work as getting one planted. I hope I can get out into mine today and do this very same thing. It does feel good to have it all in order before winter sets in.

We live on Vancouver Island and it's green year round except for the annuals and the deciduous trees, so we still have the same protocol for winterizing. They say it might be the coldest winter in 20 years so we need to be prepared!
