ten, travel and over

1 It's been a long week. I'm grateful for a full night's sleep and no alarm to wake me! Ten hours instead of my usual six means more energy.


2 Tomorrow I'll travel south island to visit with my best friend. She's back on the island this time with her hubby for a wedding. Lunch and a walk or visit for a few hours. 


3 No more Silent Sundays. I think of it as a short experiment that I didn't like as much as I thought I would, but I'm glad I tried. it.

fit, new way and birds

1 Finally finding a pair of jeans that fit and that I like. It's difficult when you're in between sizes. 


2 A new way of eating means I can go down a size instead of up...I hope!


3 Even though it's raining the birds still feed and sing so loud I can hear it over the sound of the rain in the gutters. Nice work!

our special day, number one and number two

1 It's our anniversary today. I call him early knowing that I won't make it home in time from the mechanics. We both say happy anniversary to each other at the same time. I can hear him smiling as he quickly says, "I was first!" 

2 Son #1 does exceptionally well in his interview and gets a contract for 10 years instead of the usual five! How amazing is that?


3 Son #2 is finally telling me what he'd like me to send in the next care package to China. Sun dried tomatoes, beef jerky, Skor bars and some activity books for his summer camp top the list so far.

good food, extra and feels good

1 A quick shopping trip and a bite to eat. My phone accidentally calls Russ and later when we talk he says, "How was the Vietnamese food?" He knows it's always good there!


2 Enough leftovers that I can take some to work tomorrow.


3 A soft pillow and clean sheets feel good on my tired bones.

amazed, a bit better and thankful

1 It's so gratifying to look at the gardens here and know that I'm a part of making the flowers happy.
2 My body aches are alleviated with a soak in the hot tub. 
3 He makes a second call just so we can talk a tiny bit more. Missing him so much and appreciating how lucky I am.

hopeful, pleased and food

1 They think they'll have a new place for the beginning of August. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for them. I'll have to plan a roadtrip so I can come up to help with the move.
2 He seems very pleased to have a new room, a room that he doesn't have to move out of each time he's on a turnaround. 
3 Tomatoes and cucumbers are starting to grow in the greenhouse. 
Soon to be salad!

a bit more, the day and sharing

1 It felt good to have a bit more energy today. Housework almost done, fresh sheets on the bed, and shopping and stocking up on some items so that when  Mr is home we have more time for BBQ's and less time in the shops.


2 The morning started with the remnants of last night's storm, by ten it was bright, sunny and warm, followed by strong winds and rain but now it's overcast and cool. A very diverse day weather wise.

3 Remembering Mom every time I see her beauties -  foxgloves. We brought them with us when we moved. Thank you Mom for sharing your love of flowers with me. xo 

vision, clouds and laziness means deliciousness

1 The roses are blooming by the front door. Not to much for scent but definitely a pleasing visual.
2 The magic of clouds. I remember sitting or lying on the grass looking up at the sky and imagining what the shapes of the clouds might be. It might be time to do that again soon. 
3 A lazy Friday evening, what to do for dinner? Vegetable lamb soup from the freezer and a toasted cheese bun. Perfect for a cool rainy night.

1 A shopping trip yields a few summer tops and the feeling of warm fuzzies. Ah, retail therapy. Sometimes a girl just has to do, what a girl has to do.


2 The feel of smooth feet and pretty toes.


3 Chick flicks. Every now and again it's fun to lose yourself in silliness.

3 Wow, what a productive day. We get the majority of organizational stuff completed and purge even more bags and boxes of useless paperwork.

1 Early afternoon means he's leaving again. No tears, just lots of love and a smile for him when he waves goodbye.


2 A good catch up call with G. What a wonderful holiday we had together. I sure do miss having day to day time with her.


3 Cold crisp cherries that stain my lips red just like when I was a little girl.

1  We try to spend all of our time together but it's in the air that he soon must leave again. Every minute counts.

2 The mountains call us so we hop on the motorbike and head uphill. The trails are winding and tight in spots but lush and green and mossy. He says, "I'm surprised you're not afraid of the steep cliff on the left." I reply, "Of course I'm not scared. What's to be scared of? I'm with you and you're the best motorbike rider I know." I can hear his smile.

3 The hummingbirds are mating. We are honored to be able to watch it in the shrubs right in front of us. It's fast, flighty and furious activity. 

sleep, out and online chatting

1 For 21 days it's graveyard shift. Now he's home and is finding it difficult to sleep at night. Today we cuddle up and he naps.
2  We do a bit of shopping and enjoy some time together being out and about.

3 A two hour talk with Nick and Sara. How wonderful to listen to them talk about the wonderful things they are doing and planning. Yellow Mountain is on their list of places to go and they want us to come with them! 2013 just might be the year we go to China!

1 Dinner out with two very special people. What a great time! Loved the company, food and our waiter was especially entertaining. Here's a photo or the standard napkin vs one he folded for us.  
2 So nice to see her smiling face. What an amazing friend I am blessed to have.
3. He is still in his 40's....for another 20 minutes !

at last, sleeper and bins

1 Home at last. His plane was delayed in Calgary due to  lightning. They sat on the tarmac for 4 hours but he had been one of the lucky ones who was re-booked so with a little more luck he made his connecting flights! 


2 A sleep in. He gets the chance to sleep in and he does.


3 A good work day with lots of organizational stuff accomplished and lots of junk tossed in to the bins.

calling, singing and switching

1 My brother's been calling me each afternoon to check up on me. He's sounding well and it makes being so far away a little bit easier.


2 There's a story to be told and from the way the birds are singing tonight well, it sounds pretty exciting!


3 One more sleep and he's home. He sounds more than ready for a break from it all. I'm wondering how he'll do switching from night shift to days just for this week.

1 The weather forecast was for cloudy and rainy weather today, but Mother Nature decided otherwise. So thankful for the sunshine and warmer breeze.

my wish, healing rays and four

1 My wish came true! Late yesterday afternoon a sweet friend found out I was sick and arrived with 3 bags of food and fluids and just about everything. What a godsend she is. I am so very, very grateful.


2 It's a warm sunny day and I'm sitting in the sun sheltered from any cool breezes and letting nature heal me.


3 Four more sleeps and he's home <3

sleeper, hopeful and wishful

1 Is it possible to sleep this much? I went to sleep at 7 last night, up at 8am today, then back at 9am til 12 then 1:30 til 3. Holy!


2 My head still hurts but I'm hoping I've turned the corner. My apologies for the cold/flu posts. 


3 Wishing I had a magical fairy to bring me warm soup and some tlc. Kitty tries but she's more needy than I am.

1 Despite the rain the humming birds are still partaking of sweet nectar in two spots in the yard. 


2 We have a short but important talk. All is well.


3 He sounds good. I'm glad my brother is settling back into life outside the hospital. I'll make sure to keep on doing my calls to him, just to be sure.

steam, chives and sleep

1 I'm in and out of our steamy hot tub, my skin feels soft and it's helping. Please steam, steam out this nasty cold.

2 Love the look, colour and taste of chives. Such a garden staple and such a garden statement.
3 I give in to my body and sleep a healing sleep, awaken and then sleep some more. It's the part in between the steam sessions!

cough cough, sips and new chapter

1  This cold has knocked me on my butt. I spend bits of the day in the hot tub heating myself up and inhaling steam. The rest of the day I sleep.


2 Hot green tea, plain no honey. 


3 Lesson 6, Chapter 7 is done.

who is smart?, climber and clouds

1 We have breakfast out then head to Coombs to see all the sights there and the goats on the roof. With the intermittent rain showers the goats are under cover. Smart goats.
2 The wisteria is climbing all over the restaurant. It's breathtaking and I'm imagining where I could plant one at our house.

3 The clouds break up for a while so we head to the beach and wander for a bit. Feels so good to have the sun on my skin.

luxurious, foods and sleeps

1 It's G's birthday gift and we share it. It's a "Dip and Dine". Soaking in the mineral pool, regular temperature pool and a cold waterfall, followed by appetizers upstairs in our robes! Total luxury. 
2 Thirteen appetizers and then desserts!
3 A good night's sleep is what we need. Thankfully she can't hear much of the party next door and can sleep.
